My girlfriend just accidentally hit this watch on a metal post & chipped the ceramic strap. However, the worst part is that ever since, the second hand moves (small window of its own) but the hour & minute hands don't. I can reset the correct time & although the seconds tick away as normal, the actual time doesn't change. The problem started after the crown and stem fell out upon setting the watch. The stem was an easy fix it went right back in and I tightened the screw. After that it set fine and wound normally but only the second hand on the sub dial would move. Also the hour and minute hand seem to move really freely if touched. Sounds like typical way a quartz movement fails. It feels that they are getting the "kick" but not enough to move by a second. I have had 3 quartz watches that occasionally behaved the way you describe. They are Seiko, Casio, and ETA movements.
