I think both look awesome, different characters (rugged vs bling), one of the best dial colours out there (classic vs modern), but I think one is more versatile when it comes to the outfit one wear. I think the explorer can go with any outfit, any wrist size, any occasion and it gives a sense of understatement (which may appeal to some).
