The seller of this watch claims that all parts are original parts that come with the watch. But what makes me a little doubtful is the lack of lume on the hands of this watch while the dial has lume. Got back home and noticed that the batons all have lume so glows perfectly in the dark but the silver hour and minute hand is plain with no lume whatsoever. This means that in the dark, you still can't tell the time even if the batons are glowing brightly! I have taken interest on a 1601 DJ, and saw a silver non lume dial of the early 70s. Non lume dials
An intriguing Rolex Datejust 1601 with a no-lume lavender dial had caught my eye, but where was it? Well, the Rolex Datejust 1601 was there and Eric brought it out, but it contained an unfortunate caveat. But, after seeing about 50 other 1601’s I’ve yet to see one like mine. I’m not talking about the color, but about the hour hands and the absence of the lume around the dial. It does not looks like the lume has “fallen off” or anything since there are no marks. A trained eye will note that although the dial is stamped “T Swiss T”, there is no tritium lume to be found anywhere on the dial or the hands. This is because during the era of the 1601, Rolex faced restrictions and regulations on the export of tritium dials to Asian markets. Posted by u/JH0410 - 107 votes and 20 comments
This watch features a rare "no lume" dial which features a more ornate black and white gold marker and hand set, all set upon a silver "pie pan" stepped dial. This dial configuration is a scarce and unique feature on a watch that is in excellent condition and comes with its original warranty papers. I am looking for my first Rolex and I love the 1501 / 15010 with the engine turned bezel. I found a nice example but I am not sure if it is true to itself. With Omegas there is a rule that lume is always on hands and dial or both have no lume. I recently bought a rolex 1601, and I need a little guidance.
